St Barnabas Talk
Posted on Nov 26, 2024 by Efrem Brynin
We were invited by Sussex based Hospice, St Barnabas, to take part in their ‘Breaking the Silence’ event to mark International Men’s Day, highlighting men’s grief and mental health.
As with so many organisations, the hospice struggles to engage with the men they support when a loved one passes away, so that’s where we came in.
StrongMen CEO and bereaved father, Efrem Brynin, delivered our #wearyourheartonyoursleeve talk to a large and varied audience highlighting his own personnel experiences “You got everyone thinking, feeling, and connecting in ways I could only have dreamed of. It was so moving and inspiring, and we felt so honoured to have you there. The energy and perspective you brought really stayed with people, it was so powerful”.

As well as the talk, Efrem also answered questions from the audience helping to make the event a great success “Honestly, the feedback has been incredible, so many people were completely blown away by the event, and your talk was a huge reason why.”
The event also featured Mindfulness exercises, talk from Samaritans and specialist guidance from the on site counsellors.

Having gone through a period of what could only be described as melancholy, where I was struggling with highs and lows with moods and understanding following the loss of my mother, I was put in touch with StrongMen through my company's employee assistance program.
