Some of the key ingredients that make up StrongMen are health, fitness & exercise alongside talking, spending time with friends, family and people with shared life experiences and being outdoors!

These ingredients are all found in our brand new, yearly fundraising and awareness campaign, “Walktober”.

Held annually through the month of October, StrongMen are encouraging everyone to get out and cover as many miles, kilometres and steps as possible to benefit your physical and mental health.

In parallel we are asking our supporters to get sponsorship for your personal journeys to raise much needed funds for the continued growth of StrongMen.

Research shows that Walking is one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier. Sometimes overlooked as a form of exercise, walking briskly can help you build stamina and burn excess calories.

You do not have to walk for hours. A brisk 10-minute daily walk has lots of health benefits and counts towards your recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise. Regular engagement in walking benefits many areas of physical health, improves sleep, helps maintain a healthy weight, helps manage stress and improves quality of life and improves cardiovascular fitness. Just as important is the impact on your mental health!

Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function. Exercise has also been found to alleviate symptoms such as low self-esteem and social withdrawal.

Walktober participants raising over £250 will receive a free Walktober T-Shirt and for those raising over £500, automatic entry into our elite fundraisers club, CLUB500 and the chance to become our fundraiser of the year!
